FINGER PUPPET 1Students can make several and use to orally give a book report. MATERIALS ¼ sheet of white construction paper Markers/Crayons/Pencil Colors/Pencil Scissors Glue TIME Under 1 hour PROCEDURE Instruct students to Cut a strip of white construction paper approximately ½” by 2” long. Draw a picture of a boy, girl, or an animal approximate 1” wide by 2” high. Color the picture and cut it out very carefully. Glue to the center of the paper strip. Wrap the strip around your finger and glue.
FINGER PUPPET 2MATERIALS ¼ sheet of construction paper Construction paper scraps Markers/Crayons/Pencil Colors/Pencil Scissors Glue Yarn/string/ribbon TIME Under 1 hour PROCEDURE Instruct students to Make a shape similar to the following about 2” long and slightly wider than finger width Cut out 2. Glue the edges together. Add a face. Apply various geometric and freeform shapes to add facial and body features.
MASK (FULL FACE)MATERIALS Construction paper Markers/Crayons/Pencil colors/Pencil 6” – 8” circle pattern Scissors Glue TIME Approximately 1 hour PROCEDURE Instruct each student to Draw a circle in the center of the construction paper large enough to cover face. Cut out. Decorate with construction paper geometric shapes such as triangles, circles, crescent shape, and ovals to form facial features. CAT FACE Triangles for ears, nose, and mouth, circles for eyes, crescent shape for eyebrows, narrow rectangles for whiskers, etc. INDIAN FACE Narrow rectangular shapes for war paint, ovals for eyes, feather shapes for headband, etc. Attach string to ties mask in face.
MASK (1/2 face)MATERIALS Construction paper Markers/Crayons/Pencil Colors/Pencil Scissors Glue Yarn/string/ribbon TIME Under 1 hour PROCEDURE Instruct students to Fold construction paper in half to form 2 – 9” by 6” sections. Share ½ with classmate. Instruct students to fold construction paper in half to form a 4 ½ “ by 6” section. Starting against the 4 ½” fold line, draw a shape using most of the paper away from the fold. Cut this shape out. Cut out an eyehole or other designs while the paper is still folded. Unfold and decorate. Attach string for ties.
