Christmas Crafts

Evergreen Tree

Materials
  • Green construction paper
  • Markers/Crayons/Pencil Colors/Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • String

Time

1 hour

Procedure

Instruct students to:

  1. Fold a piece of green construction paper in half to form 2 6' by 9' sections.
  2. Then fold in half again to form a 3' by 9' rectangle.
  3. Draw half an evergreen tree along the double fold. Drawing a trunk is optional.
  4. Cut along the line and you should get two identical trees.
  5. Decorate with pinecones, birds, nest, garlands, ornaments, etc.
  6. Cut a slit along the bottom half of one tree to the center.
  7. Cut a slit along the top half of the other tree to the center.
  8. Slip the two trees together along the slits.
  9. Attach the bottoms and tops together with 4 small pieces of tape.
  10. Place joined trees flat on desk.
  11. Place small piece of tape across the top and bottom slit.
  12. Turn over and repeat on the backside.
  13. Fold along taped lines to separate tree sides.
  14. Attach length and hang.
  15. Decorate. (Optional)

Variation

Trees made in this manner out of smaller/larger pieces of construction paper can be used as diorama items.
