LANTERN

Construction paper

PROCEDURE

Instruct students to

Fold construction paper in half the long way to create a rectangle4 ½ “ by 12”.

Place the ruler along the top and bottom edges and draw a line approximately ¾ “ along the open edges.

From the fold edge to the pencil line make a series of cuts approximately ½ “ wide (about a dozen or more)

Unfold the paper.

Overlap the 9” sides of the paper and attach together. 

Cut a strip of paper 6 long and ½ “ wide.

Attach the strip of paper across one of the open ends of the lantern to form a handle.

Decorate your room by hanging from ceiling with yarn.
