Lantern

Substitute any flat or dimensional item in place of the snowflake.

Materials

• Construction paper
• Markers/Crayons/Pencil Colors/Pencil
• Ruler
• Scissors
• Glue/tape/ stapler
• Twine/Yarn/Ribbon

Time

1 hour

Procedure

Instruct students to:

1. Fold construction paper in half the long way to create a rectangle4 ½ “ by 12”.
2. Place the ruler along the top and bottom edges and draw a line approximately ¾ “ along the open edges.
3. From the fold edge to the pencil line make a series of cuts approximately ½ “ wide (about a dozen or more)
4. Unfold the paper.
5. Overlap the 9” sides of the paper and attach together.
6. Cut a strip of paper 6 long and ½ “ wide.
7. Attach the strip of paper across one of the open ends of the lantern to form a handle.
8. Decorate your room by hanging from ceiling with yarn.
