Paper Chain Caterpillar

• Green sheet of construction paper
• Construction paper scraps
• Markers/Crayons/Pencil Colors/Pencil
• Ruler
• Scissors
• Glue/tape/stapler

1 hour

Procedure

Instruct students to:

1. Fold construction paper in half to form 2 sections 9” by 6.”
2. Cut into 2 sections and share with classmate.
3. Using ruler, mark construction paper into 8 – 6” by 1” strips.
4. Cut apart.
5. Attach 1 together to form a circle.
6. Connect the other seven to form a chain. (Body)
7. Cut a circle with approximately a 1” diameter from the remaining piece of construction paper to form the head.
8. Add facial features using marker/crayons/pencil colors.
9. Glue on two tiny triangular jaws (mandibles).
10. Glue the head to the caterpillar.
