New Year Crafts

Snowman (Packing Peanuts)

• Construction paper
• Black hole punch outs
• Markers/Crayons/Pencil Colors/Pencil
• Scissors
• Glue
• Twine/Yarn/Ribbon

Time

Approximately 1 hour

Procedure

Instruct students to:

1. Fold construction paper in half to form a 9” by 6” rectangle.
2. Cut into 2 rectangles.
3. Give 1 to a classmate.
4. Roll ½ of the construction paper to form a cylinder 6” tall.
5. Glue the packing peanuts and bits completely around the cylinder to cover the body.
6. Tie length into a bow and glue about a 1/3 of the way down the cylinder.
7. Use black paper punch circles to form the eyes, mouth and buttons above and below the ribbon.
8. Cut a small round circle out of black construction paper to form the base of the hat.
9. Color a packing peanut black.
10. Flatten the base of the peanut.
11. Glue to the center of the black circle.
12. Glue to the top of the cylinder.
13. Add a carrot nose made from orange construction paper.
